Getting brunch on vacation is essential to booking the perfect stay. In Montreal, there are plenty of places for you to grab brunch at depending on what part of the city you’re staying in. But, in a city that has so many brunch places, it can be hard to narrow down the list if you’re on a short vacation. Sometimes you just need to pick a handful of places beforehand and go to one each day. Here are five of the best spots you can check out for a yummy brunch during your stay in Montreal, Quebec.
1. Restaurant L’Avenue
This retro spot usually has a line down the block so if you get there early enough, you won’t have to wait. But, even if that happens, it’s well worth the wait.
The whole cafe has a retro vibe and their bathroom has black lights in it that really fits the aesthetic.
Their french toasts are huge and give you an entire can of maple syrup for you to enjoy with it. Not only that, they give you a plate of fresh fruit and pour you a glass of their in-house watermelon infused water!
2. Eggspectation
There are six different Eggspectation locations in Montreal alone. Which means, you have no excuse to not try them out while in Canada. Their menu has everything a breakfast lover could want but with the word ‘egg’ in their name, you should definitely try out their egg dishes. Especially since they have nine different kinds of eggs benedicts and eight different types of omelettes.
3. Stash Cafe
Stash Cafe is this little Polish restaurant in Old Montreal that really hits the spot.
It’s a nice escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, and their crepes are to die for.
They even have a cute bar that serves fresh pressed juice! Their menu is in both English and Polish so you don’t have to worry about ordering something without knowing what it is.
4. Cacao 70
Cacao 70 is right across the street from L’Avenue in Mount-Royal so if you’re more of a chocolate on chocolate person, this place is for you. Their crepes are huge and I would’ve sat there and eaten them all day if I didn’t have plans. They serve a black sesame hot cocoa that might sound weird, but tastes absolutely amazing.
5. Olive and Gourmando
This is another spot in Old Montreal. I wouldn’t call it a hidden spot since it’s pretty popular, but it’s definitely easy to walk by if you weren’t looking for the sign. Just like L’Avenue, you might have to wait if you go at their peak times but don’t let that stop you from enjoying their menu! My personal favorite is the ‘poached egg on your face’ panini which has spicy poached eggs with herbs and mayonnaise, raw milk cheese, speck, and slow roasted tomatoes. They also have a bunch of daily specials that are a treat to try!
