5 Questions For… Chloe East

Taylor Magazine Minimalist guide to life

At the age of 15, Chloe East has a lot already under her belt. She’s an actress, dancer, model, vlogger and businesswoman and she has no plans to slow down. This year, she’ll be starring in Jessica Darling’s It List as well as hit Disney show Liv and Maddie. She’ll also be working on her dance wear line and maintaining her hugely successful YouTube channel. Her vlog (which she mostly films and edits herself) has captured a lot of people’s attention, where she covers a range of topics from dance to cooking and fashion to tutorials. The California girl has been working hard for a good few years, after starting her modelling career when she was 9. This was quickly followed by her television debut when she appeared on HBO hit “True Blood.” We spoke to her about her exciting projects this year, her inspiration for her YouTube channel and future goals.

Taylor Magazine: Hey Chloe! It’s been an exciting year for you so far. What’s been your highlight of 2016?

Chloe East: I would say my highlight of 2016 has been playing the role of Val in Season 4 of Liv and Maddie. I wake up so excited to go to set and work with the amazing people there! I just finished a project with AWESOMENESS TV and have been hearing rumours about an early summer release of Jessica Darling’s It List! It’s the first in a series of books written by New York Times best-selling Author Megan McCaffarty about Jessica Darling. I’m super excited for everyone to see it!

Taylor Magazine: As a model, actress and dancer, which one would you say is your one true passion?

Chloe East: Actress for sure but I love dancing and modelling just as much. There are so many things I love about acting but my favourite thing is probably the research including characters, backgrounds of characters, writers, directors, etc. This includes everything like what they’ve done in the past to what they are working on now.

Taylor Magazine: Is there anything else you’d like to do in the future that you haven’t tried yet.

Chloe East: That’s hard because it changes a lot. But I would love to act in a Quentin Tarantino film and I’d like to shoot a film on 35MM Film.

Taylor Magazine: Tell me a bit about your YouTube videos and your dance wear line. They’re so different but it would great to know what inspired you for both projects?

Chloe East: My YouTube channel has definitely really evolved. I started out doing Rainbow loom videos and a Cooking With Chloe series. Now, I make videos based on what Id like to watch as well as what people request. My vlogs are just a day in my life. I wish I could do more but there are only so many hours in a day and when I’m working on set I have to wait until the weekend. It takes time to shoot and edit. I’m amazed at how people manage to vlog every single day! I love watching those! For my dance wear line, I was approached by The Joffrey Ballet to do a line with them. I chose the designs and got the chance to work with their internal team. They were great and really listened to my ideas!

Taylor Magazine: What should we expect from you for the rest of the year?

Chloe East: I’m still filming Disney Channel’s Liv And Maddie and that will begin airing in August. Then, hopefully more TV/film projects and of course new videos on my “chlochloeast” YouTube channel and vlogs.
