WestHouse, New York, situated on 55th St offers the glitz and glam of your dream Manhattan hotel just a stones throw from all your wants and needs for a kick ass time in New York. A quarter of a mile from coffee in Central Park or a 5 minute walk to vibrant nights in Times Square, WestHouse bears the perfect hub for exploring the Big Apple.

The hotel itself offers a perfect taste of New York living, offering an elegant living experience. From its delicious breakfast spread in the morning including your daily dosage of bagels and OJ, to its free happy hour in the trendy ‘Den’ or stunning views of uptown from the stunning terrace on floor 23, guests can expect their every need catered for. This is all included in the residents fee of £27 per day (40 USD per day).

If you’re looking for a good night out on the town then you need not worry. On your doorstep there are a host of pubs and bars including the famous Tanner Smith Irish Pub, which we had the treat of visiting on St. Patricks Day (big deal in New York). Other points of interest worth checking out nearby are the wide array of fabulous musicals on Broadway, Rockefeller Center on 48th for stunning aerial views of the city skyline or the Metropolitan Opera a few blocks North West for a more refined night of entertainment.

The hotel came on the scene in December 2013, designed by Jeffrey Beers International, with the intention of creating a new hotel concept in the beautiful city of New York. How? By blending the elegant residential comforts of a townhouse with a boutique hotel, creating a unique experience. Small homely touches throughout the lobby are subtle but inviting. Beers explained: “we decided to design WestHouse as a boutique hotel that feels like a well-appointed luxury home.” Custom made chandeliers catch your eye and two white marble columns stand on either side of the staircase that takes you to the lobby area.

The Terrace

Set on the 23rd floor, this is the ideal place to relax and dine. You can have a relaxing cocktail and enjoy views of the Hudson River, and there’s a multifunctional dining and living space. There’s a private dining room and a larger dining area for food or socialising.

The Den

Alcoholic and non-alcoholic refreshments are available here, and a light dinner is also provided every evening. With multiple seating areas and beautiful furniture, it’s the perfect place to relax before an evening out. There’s an intimate bar, a library and a fireplace to complete the atmosphere. Try the signature ‘Oldie But Goodie’ cocktail.

Perfect location

As mentioned before, you’ll be in the centre of all the top spots without being overwhelmed. Near to MOMA, Carnegie Hall, Fifth Avenue, Lincoln Centre and many other spots, you’re at the core of the Big Apple. You can see Times Square but you can’t hear it and there’s a nearby subway station for when you want to venture further out.

Bedrooms and suites

It’s a hotel with the spirit of 1920s New York and many rooms have stunning views of Midtown Manhattan. The vibrant boutique hotel has such an inviting feel, it’s like being at home. The 1920s inspiration is present in each of the 172 luxury bedrooms and suites. Words to describe it? Sophisticated, elegant, modern and timeless.

Privacy

The hotel and its amenities are completely private to Residents and their guests, making it mysterious and allusive. As one of the finest luxury hotels in New York, it’s perfect to feel like you have your own space amongst the hustle and bustle of the city.

You’ll be well looked after

The hotel does a good job of catering to your every need: GHD straighteners in every room, Samsung 46″ high-definition LED TVs, free bottled water, an empty mini fridge, a 24-hour fitness centre and wifi. The staff will do their best to accommodate whatever you need. You’ll be treated like a resident, not as a guest.

GlamSquad partnership

One thing that makes WestHouse so unique is the partnership it has with Glamsquad, the leading mobile beauty service. They are the first and only property to have a dedicated phone line connecting guests to the GlamSquad. With this, residents at the hotel can reserve hair, makeup and nail services without them having to leave their room. Prices are $50 for a blow dry, $75 for makeup, $125 for hair and makeup and $35 for a manicure. Appointments range from 45 minutes to an hour, and the service starts at 7am and runs until 9pm. A curated style menu is available for guests who need a bit of inspiration, making getting ready so much easier.

Resident’s fee

This covers the wifi, sweet and savoury breakfast options, afternoon tea and snacks, evening light fare (as well as endless beer and wine in the evening!) WestHouse is the first New York hotel to offer a Resident’s fee and the treats you get with this are well worth it and great value.
