Located right in downtown Detroit, this huge public market is a must-do for any visitor. The Saturday Market has been a Detroit staple for over 125 years and occurs every week, regardless of the weather. Make sure to get there early (it opens at 6 a.m.) to find the best produce and beat the crowds. Wander throughout the district and experience the best southeastern goodies Michigan has to offer, from fresh produce to handcrafted art pieces. While its most popular market is the Saturday Market, there are also markets offered on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursday evenings.

Hungry for brunch? Dime Store is your next stop. This trendy cafe/bar offers a large menu of soups, sandwiches and delicious breakfast specials like omelettes, hashes and Eggs Benedict. With an industrial chic atmosphere and vast drink menu, it’s easy to see why locals keep coming back to try another menu creation. Plus, how could you ever turn down Saturday-morning mimosas?
Belle Isle
Spend an afternoon at Detroit’s island park. This 982-acre space is an oasis tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Visitors can explore the Belle Isle Aquarium, casino, museums and more while taking in the natural beauty of the park. Belle Isle often hosts events like the Grand Prixmiere Gala, garden parties and more, so make sure to check out their events calendar before you go.
Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation
Take a step back into American and Detroit history at the Henry Ford museum. The museum requires an entire afternoon to fully take in the exhibits, but it’s worth spending your time wandering in their halls. You’ll experience America throughout the years from the classic cars, home furniture displays and the best technology innovations from each decade. During the warmer months, stroll through Greenfield Village. Here you can experience America’s history, like taking a ride in Henry Ford’s Model T or enjoying a typical 1830s lunch.
