Editor’s Note: Fresh Starts

by Ceylan Kumbarji

Welcome to our first editor’s note! This will be a regular feature on Taylor Magazine, posted fortnightly so if there’s anything you want me to talk about, feel free to get in touch using the ‘Contact Us’ form.

What’s new?

I love everything about Taylor Magazine, but I feel that autumn is the perfect time to change things up a little and make it even better. That’s why in the coming months we’ll be adding some features to the site, interviewing more of your favourite interesting people and introducing new guest columnists. Autumn has always been my favourite time of year. Everything somehow feels more peaceful and calming and you can start snuggling on the sofa with cups of hot chocolate on a Saturday night. Autumn always reminds me of being a child and getting excited to visit the stationery store to pick out all of my pens, pencils and folders. It was always the highlight of my summer, knowing that I’d be going back to school soon, making friends and learning new things.

Renewal and regrowth

When I walked through my local park this morning and saw the colour of the leaves changing and all of them carpeting the earth, it made me think about autumn being a time for renewal and starting over. The trees shed their leaves to make room for new ones and rid themselves of anything they no longer need but it’s not a negative process at all. It’s simply creating space for new, better things to happen.

We want to encourage conversation and we want everyone who visits Taylor to leave feeling a little more confident, empowered and inspired. Your opinions matter and we want to hear them. Here’s to having a safe place to just be yourself and feel great about it. Here’s to embracing this time of change all around us. This season, try something you’ve never tried before, just to remind yourself that you should always be changing and growing. Broadening your horizons feels great, so this autumn maybe you can do some baking, then wrap up warm and take a nice morning walk. Come back, light a fire and enjoy something with ‘pumpkin’ in it. Whatever makes you happy.
