STEP INSIDE
Step into Hotel Triton and you’ll enter The Living Room, a common area that’s far from common with a modern luxury approach (think marble flooring, wood ceiling beams and a custom glass-blown chandelier). The area is centred around global travel, featuring hand-beaded crowns of Nigerian kings, a display case filled with minerals from around the world, paintings from New York, masks curated in San Francisco, and so much more. Your feet will sink into hand-woven Colombian rugs as you meander into the Lobby Library, whose collection boasts books focused on travel, culture and taste. Most notably, you’ll find a mural that was serendipitously discovered behind the walls during hotel’s demolition, created by Persian artist Jon Oshanna back in the 1940s. The beautiful artwork depicts Mission Dolores, San Francisco’s oldest intact Mission in California, built in 1776. If that’s not enough, The Living Room also hosts public exhibitions of local emerging artists. Here, you can chat to the artists themselves, surrounded by carefully curated work and even pick up a piece or two.

Other highlights include the hotel’s fitness centre – if you want to end the day with a little exercise, the fitness centre is open all hours and features a treadmill, elliptical machines, stationary bikes and free weights. When you’re ready to switch off, head to your room where you’ll be met by stunning decor, natural light, and, most importantly, deluxe bedding. With 140 guest rooms, all inspired by the feeling of hygge and comfort, the contemporary redesign has created a total transformation to appeal to a mix of international travellers and locals. Each space in the hotel is bright and energising, creating a feel that brings together the comfort of a home and the style of a boutique hotel. Making sure the hotel retained a sense of elegance but still feeling really cosy was important to designer Liubasha Rose, and all rooms and suites feature marble finishes and custom furniture. Flop onto your bed and order room service from one of the restaurants connected to the hotel. Café De La Presse offers everything from gelato to escargot to good old American hamburgers.

Speaking of food, Café De La Presse and Herlen Place are two of many wonderful eateries in the area. Flanked by two of Chef Laurent Manrique’s highly-celebrated San Francisco restaurants, both venues offer world class food just a few steps away, serving breakfast, brunch, dinner and dessert for veggies, vegans and omnivores alike!
Head down to Chinatown for an array of delights. The oldest in Northern America, the town offers tea tasting, food stalls, bars and produce markets alongside museums and street artists. Wander through the maze of streets and alleyways and end up at North Beach – the merging point of Little Italy and Chinatown.
