How To Have The Ultimate Wellness Night-In

by Olivia Bouchard

In the lead up to Christmas and the New Year, everyone is so busy. With lists and lists of presents to buy, wrap and give, decorations to put up, and family to visit, there are hundreds of things to do.

During this hectic time, we can easily get so caught up in everything that we forget to look out for ourselves and just take some time to relax.

So, with that in mind, I have created this guide to treating yourself with kindness over Christmas.

The ultimate ‘wellness’ night-in is so easy to achieve and will be so rewarding to your mind, body and soul. Once you’ve taken the time out to have a break, take a step back and just give yourself a little TLC, you’ll feel refreshed and ready to take on anything the holiday season has to throw at you.

But How Do You Do It?

Well, it’s something that’s personal and really depends on your own likes and dislikes. You know you better than anyone. So listen to yourself and think about how you’d most like to spend some me time.

But if you’re stuck on where to start, I hope these general ideas will spark an interest and act as a baseline for anyone who just needs a little break from it all.

What To Do…

Well, there are loads of things that are great at making us feel instantly calmer. Such as:

1) Have a bath.

Taking a nice long soak in the bathtub works wonders for stress. I don’t know about you, but relaxing down into a warm bubble bath is an amazing way for me to unwind and let all my worries float away.

2) Cosy up with your favourite book or film.

Remember that tonight is your night. You’re allowed not to think about your list of things to do. Take all that distraction away by getting lost in whatever your favourite film or book is. It’s a wonderful way to escape for a couple of hours and will leave you feeling refreshed and happier afterwards.

3) Try a new recipe.

Nothing says comfort like comfort food. Tonight is the perfect chance to get out those cookbooks that you’ve probably not looked at since last Christmas. Look at the recipe with the most carbs and just give it a go. It doesn’t matter if it doesn’t go to plan. It’s just for yourself. There’s no pressure to get it right and even if it’s not like the picture in the book, it’ll taste great regardless.

4) Meditate.

I’m a massive advocate of meditation. It’s one of the best ways to bring yourself back to a calm state and just chill out generally. I know it’s not for everyone, but meditating doesn’t have to be cross-legged in the middle of a field looking for enlightenment. It can be as simple as just taking a couple of minutes to focus on your breathing. Listen to how it sounds, feel the rise and fall of your chest. You’ll feel better for it, I promise

I hope this guide will give you some inspiration and help you on your way to the ultimate wellness night in.
