Taylor Magazine Minimalist guide to life

Olivia Culpo is someone on everyone’s radar right now. She’s had an incredible few years and after being crowned Miss USA and Miss Universe in 2012, her career has continued to blossom. Building a successful empire and gaining followers from all over the world, Olivia is now a fashion and beauty icon. We found out that she loves languages, her favourite city is New York and she’s wanted to open her own restaurant since she was a little girl, which will be a dream that comes true for her later this year.

“My parents own restaurants in New England and I grew up around food and parties with my big Italian family. I just love the energy and comfort of a big busy restaurant. I?ll be opening a restaurant with my dad later this year. I?m really excited for that!”

Taylor Magazine: How did your career in beauty start?

Olivia Culpo: I?ve always been fascinated by iconic women in history. I love exploring past fashionistas and trend-setting women. Ever since I was a little girl, my favourite game was to play ?makeover.? I used to even style and dress up my little brother! Poor thing.

Taylor Magazine: Ha! What?s your favourite thing about the beauty/fashion industry?

Olivia Culpo: I love how the beauty industry is constantly changing and expanding. There is always a new product to try. At the same time, there are also simple ?standard? tricks that will always work and be easily accessible – ie coconut oil (I am obsessed!)

Taylor Magazine: You?re known to many as a style icon now! How does it feel for you personally to have made such an impression on people?

Olivia Culpo: I love fashion! I love playing dress-up. It really is so fun. The fact that I get to do that for work is incredible, and it’s even more fun when I get to share it with other people. I am constantly inspired by trend-setters so it is nice to think I can do the same for my followers.

Taylor Magazine: Is there anyone who?s always been an inspiration to you?

Olivia Culpo: I am inspired by women who do it all – some inspirations for me in fashion and beauty are Victoria Beckham, Rachel Zoe and Jessica Alba. I love that these women have been so successful but still have time for a family. That kind of balance is inspirational to me!

Taylor Magazine: If you weren?t modelling or acting, is there anything else you?d quite like to try?

Olivia Culpo: Since I was a little girl, I?ve wanted to open my own restaurant. My parents own restaurants in New England and I grew up around food and parties with my big Italian family. I just love the energy and comfort of a big busy restaurant. I?ll be opening a restaurant with my dad later this year. I?m really excited for that! At the moment, we are still setting everything up and talking to food safety consultants to make sure we’re doing everything correctly. We want to do everything the right way.

Taylor Magazine: It’s been an exciting few years for you! How are you handling all the big changes in your life?

Olivia Culpo: I feel lucky! I love what I have been able to to do and the people I?ve been able to meet. I couldn?t have anticipated this.

Taylor Magazine: What are some personal goals that you want to achieve in 2016?

Olivia Culpo: I?m excited to act more. I have a few exciting projects coming up that will really push the boundaries for me.

Taylor Magazine: You?ve got a really strong, loyal fan base. What?s it like to have so many people supporting you?

Olivia Culpo: I love my fans so much and I always try to think of more ways to interact with them and make them feel special. I hope that what I do can help them grow and be inspired.

Taylor Magazine: So far in your career, are there any big lessons you?ve learnt that you?ll carry with you?

Olivia Culpo: Always be grateful and put friends and family first. This industry is so fleeting and you never really know where you?ll be in a year or even a month. I try not to stress out about the unknown and just appreciate what I have been able to do.

Taylor Magazine: What?s been your career highlight so far if you had to pick one?

Olivia Culpo: My career highlight so far was when I went to Paris Fashion Week for the first time! It was so cool.

Taylor Magazine: What?s your favourite social media platform to use and why?

Olivia Culpo: I love Snapchat right now because it?s so organic and ?real.? I also love the filters. They?re hilarious.

Taylor Magazine: We?re focused on content that is ?Taylored For You?. Is there a particular area of interest that you?ve always been keen to learn more about?

Olivia Culpo: I LOVE languages. Some of my family are fluent in Italian. I can understand a lot but I would love to be fluent some day.

Taylor Magazine: What’s your favourite city?

Olivia Culpo: I love New York. The energy is so unique and there are so many interesting people and cultures. It really is a melting pot.

Taylor Magazine: What?s a typical day for you? Run us through your routine!

Olivia Culpo: Every day is totally different! I?ll take you through an ideal ?day off,? because I?m currently dreaming of a day off? My ideal free day would consist of working out, going to the farmers market, going to see my sister in Manhattan beach and going to the beach or on a boat, shopping around Barneys or Saks to see some of the latest trends, getting ice cream, cooking a healthy dinner, popping champagne, and watching the sunset with friends at a beautiful hotel by the beach.

Taylor Magazine: What do you do when you need to take some time for yourself?

Olivia Culpo: I love to get a massage, read, or play the cello.

Taylor Magazine: Tell us something really random about you.

Olivia Culpo: My middle name is Frances. That just seems random to me.

Taylor Magazine: What TV shows are you watching right now?

Olivia Culpo: I?ve been diligently following the Bachelor. Seriously, it?s starting to get good!

Taylor Magazine: It?s your day off? you can be anywhere and do anything. What would it be?

Olivia Culpo: I would go to the Amalfi coast.

Taylor Magazine: Thinking about the future, where do you see yourself in five years?

Olivia Culpo: I have no idea! I just want to be doing what I love to do.
