Winter Rooftop Terrace: Madison London

We’re still fully feeling the wrath of winter and it’s not slowing down any time soon. But, rather than planning our summer holidays already we’ve been looking to spend more time doing things we enjoy in the colder months. It’s not all bad! Blankets, cosy evenings in, cinema nights, mulled wine (yes, we can still drink it even though it’s not December!) and nights at Madison London. It’s one of our favourite places to go in the city and as well as having a beautiful view overlooking St Paul’s, it also has good food and some of the nicest cocktails we’ve had. With their CIROC Winter Terrace, you don’t need to wait until next December to get that fuzzy, warm Christmas feeling. This ultimate chill spot is one of our favourite finds.

Cocktail

Open until the end of February expect big heaters, faux throws and a cocktail menu of dreams. The Special Winter Warmers menu put together by expert mixologists was our highlight with the Terrace Mulled Wine (red wine mixed with herbs & spices), Hot Chocolate Cocktails, Rooftop Cobbles and our personal favourite the Hot Apple Pie Martini to choose from. It’s something we’ll be making ourselves until we start to see some sun and we’ve added the recipe below for you. A Hot Apple Pie Martini (it literally tastes like an apple pie in a cup) is always a good idea.

Apple Pie Martini recipe

35ml CIROC Vodka
50ml Cloudy Apple
15ml Cinnamon syrup
20ml Vanilla syrup
20ml Apple liquor
Mix all ingredients, steam or gently heat and serve with dried apple garnish

Keeping the good vibes going, Madison London will also be doing a five course Valentine’s menu this month (sautéed scallops and bacon or seared venison loin and black fig followed by sharing plates of Lobster-Briand or monkfish tail) with desserts to die for. Dark chocolate and praline fondant anyone? Of course, in typical Madison London style expect big things from the cocktail menu: there’s a Rosewater and Lychee Granita topped with rose petals.
