Cocktails We Love… Moscow Mule Margarita Recipe

by Taylor Team

Is there anything a girl loves more than a margarita? We love the taste, we love the fun and we love to hate tequila. This might be a loaded statement, but margaritas are basically the universal “girl drink”. The refreshing hint of lime and the endless flavour possibilities… When your girlfriends ask you to grab margaritas, you go!

Although a classic cocktail, the margarita has been evolving and changing for some time. The flavour possibilities have gotten crazier and more interesting (not to mention more delicious) over the years! Bartenders and cocktail enthusiasts have transformed the classic flavour-range beyond strawberry and mango.

Jalapeno, cucumber, blackberry, smoked basil, cantaloupe, hibiscus… the possibilities have become endless. Even chocolate, pumpkin and peppermint margaritas have been created, although I can’t comment on how those actually taste.

When I came across this recipe that involved not just one, but two of my favourite drinks, I knew I had to try it. The Moscow Mule Margarita.

Now, the margarita will always be first in my heart. But a Moscow Mule has become a close second. The same refreshing hint of lime, but balanced with a tang of ginger beer. If you’ve never tried a Moscow Mule, do yourself a favour and order one right now!

Alone, each one is fantastic, but the hybrid of margarita and Moscow mule is genius! I’m not sure why this wasn’t thought of sooner but whatever. It’s finally getting the attention it deserves. Next time you’re sitting around with your friends, break out the tequila and impress them with some MMM’s.

The below cocktail recipe (from Oh My Creative) is groundbreaking! The perfect mix of two classic favourites.

INGREDIENTS:
1 oz Lime Juice (freshly squeezed if possible)
3 oz Ginger Beer
1 1/2 oz Tequila (any Agave Tequila will do!)
1/2 oz Cointreau
1/2 oz Simple Syrup (or Agave Syrup if opting for no sugar)
Salt (for the rim)

Start with making the simple syrup by placing equal parts of water and sugar in a small saucepan.

Use 1/2 cup of water and 1/2 sugar.

Warm over medium heat stirring until the sugar dissolves. Let cool before moving on to the next ingredients!

Stir (do not shake) the rest of the ingredients together, with the simple syrup.

Serve over ice and garnish with a lime.

Olé!
